Adriann's 2012 PIAS

Britama Fixed Fest 2012 was a blast, and it also marks the launching of the 2012 PIAS track frameset. Proudly brought to you by Sumvelo and Cyclonesia, the 2012 incarnation features a couple of detail refinements from the previous successful design.

The 2012 PIAS still retains almost everything from the original geometry so at a glance you'll barely notice anything, but take the old PIAS and put it side by side with the 2012 version and you'll see something different with the fork rake. The new ones used track-inspired forks with 30mm offset (less 10mm than the previous), giving it shorter wheelbase, more aggressive handling and of course, meaner look.
This year also saw different color options. Gone are last year's two color options (Dirty Gold and Good Grey), replaced with black (with extra sparkle that looked like taken straight off Keirin frames), brushed steel, and limited edition Spearmint Green (only 20 framesets available).

This 48cm Spearmint Green specimen belongs to Adriann, who immediately grabbed the frameset on the first day they're available. He even decided to push it even further, putting a shorter track fork to create even tighter front tire clearance and point-and-shoot handling. The rest of the build is all but ordinary components, ranging from Campagnolo Record Pista hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims through Richman double butted spokes (radial pattern front, 3-cross rear), Suntour Superbe Pro crankset that spun on ceramic-greased Hatta 9400 bottom bracket, and cockpit made of Nitto, fi'zi:k and Thomson components.

Also changed from the previous design is the seat tube clamp design, using replaceable seat pin bolt rather than permanent threaded collar.
