Wheelbuild: Shimano Ultegra 6700 to Alex Rims AT400 Pro

This road wheelset belongs to Fitra, the co-conspirator of our friendly neighbour Cicli Boom. He wanted to built a decent quality, lightweight, touring ready, multispeed 700c wheelset with the best components available that won't break up the bank.

Both rims are the reasonably priced Alex Rims AT400 Pros. I myself have a set of cyclocross wheels build around these rims, and all I can say is they held up really nice. Soon to be paired to a Shimano CS-6600 12-23T cassette is a Shimano Ultegra FH-6700 freehub, with 32 hole drillings. The rear spokes are Richman double butted stainless, 290mm on drive side and 296mm on non-drive side, in silver finish and laced in 3-cross pattern on both sides.

Rolling up front is also an Ultegra, the HB-6700 hub. The front spokes are also Richman, 294mm length on either sides, also in silver finish and 3-cross pattern on both sides.

The special request on these wheels is that the nipples should be black, because Fitra is so afraid of having rust on his bike. Although brass nipples are not subject to corrotion, we switched the stock Richman silver brass nipples with Entity black brass nipples anyway.
And on what bike these wheels will roll? Well, stay tune to find out.
