Pias Cycles' Scarab project is considered as a success. We managed to sold the limited batch of 100 framesets, and preparing ourselves to produce the second batch with some improvements here and there. Since now there were plenty of them roaming the streets, how do you make your Scarab stands out in the crowd? In Irfan "Ippe" Wahyudi's case, he simply have his repainted.
After his first frameset went to the Netherlands, Ippe switched to this gunmetal Scarab. But he decided to make it different by painting the blue portion in glossy gunmetal, making it looked monochromatic while creating contrast to the standard matt gunmetal surface. Looked as stealthy as Ippe's old Kagero as well.
Apart from the frame, nothing changed much from the initial build specification. 10-speed SRAM Force drivetrain still delivers crisp shifts everytime. The Baluran-proven wheels are still using the same pink United hubs that were previously laced to Velocity Deep-Vs.
Ippe's got a thing for front racks, so we installed one on this Scarab as well. The front rack is custom made in Surabaya, getting inspirations from Surly front rack.
