This late ‘80s 53cm (center-to-center) Raleigh Record
Sprint is a classic example of classic British road bike, with longer
chainstays and ample clearance to put on fenders (or mudguards in proper
English).
One of the interesting features
found on Record Sprints are the slightly ovalized downtube and seattube,
intended to increase stiffness of the steel tubings. The long wheelbase, wide tire
clearance, and presence of eyelets (so you can easily put racks or fenders on
them) makes this bike a perfect choice of being used on any given situation, be
it rain or shine, on trips long or short. It is as durable and fast as you want
it to be, yet comfortable over the long haul on any type of road surface or
terrain.

The frameset also provides a good platform should you want to upgrade
it with even more modern componentry. This Raleigh was already decked with
2 x 8-speed Shimano Sora kit and Scott wheels when we resurrect it. Not much repairs needed
ever since, it is already properly repainted to enhance the classic look.
Should you want to upgrade it with 9- or 10-speed drivetrain, all you need is new cassette, chain and shifter. That's all. |
The yellow stripe was added to complement the Selle San Marco Rolls. |
Interested of having such classic
like this? The good news is, this bike is up for sale. It will cost you Rp
5.500.000 to give this beauty a new home. To further experience its glorious British
heritage all you need is some tweed outfit, and maybe, a monocle. The bike is
recently displayed at our shop, so stop by, have a look, and
maybe we can work out a deal with you!
